Macbook battery won't take a charge after sitting for an extended period of time (10 days)
I recently left my macbook for approximately 10 days thinking it was off. Well to my surprise it wasn't and now it seems the battery has completely drained and will no longer take a charge
I've tried shutting down, and resetting the PMU neither made any difference.
Any suggestions?

Inappropriate?According to Apple you should never leave your battery in your Mac for extended periods of time without charging it.
If you do not use it for a week, they recommend to fully charge the battery and pull it out of the Mac and store them separated. then run a charge cycle once every few weeks (about 3 to 4 weeks).
Tech support told me that if you let the battery fully drain until all the power runs out you can actually "kill the battery" because it damages the circuitry. In this case your battery warranty is void.
I am sure there are ways to go around it and get a replacement. I would consult with your local Genius bar guy or local tech support store.
Good Luck!
I’m wishing you the best

Inappropriate?I took my macbook into the Genius bar this morning. Not only was my computer not under warranty, but the problem with my battery did not call for a free battery replacement (since it was admittedly my fault.) I think the guy felt bad for me so he gave me a new one and filed it as a faulty battery.
WooHoo!
I’m fully charged

Actually, there is a warning printed in one of the little white papers that came with your battery (or mac). There is also another warning at Apple's "battery" website. Then again nobody reads them anyway, lol... (apparently they started printing those warnings when they changed the battery technology a year or so ago) -
Inappropriate?hi,
I took my macbook pro to a authorized service because wasn't starting at all, the chinese told me that's the battery fault and I have to change it, also the main board, he replaced the mainboard but not the battery so I went to buy a new one, I've put the new battery but now near the clock on right corner my battery is marked with an X as it's not there, if I don't keep it pluged in it won't start, the led on charger is green for a few moments then is turning off leaving me with the computer on but without charging. Anyway now is not taking dvds either so I'm starting to hate mac book.
any ideas?
I’m sad
