Movies on iTunes Canada

Do you know the specific licensing and Government issues. I ask this because I would like to know who, we as customers, can put pressure on, and what specific legislation if any deals with this issue?

Have you tried to send your query to the iTunes tech support?
(you can access this within iTunes, they usually reply within 8-12 hours)
They may be able to give you more details or even contact a PR at Apple Canada.

Recently asked iTunes support why I could not rent movies on my new apple tv and and was given the indication that there is currently little demand it.

This is the clearest answer I got after threatening to return my ipod touch.

“Artists and Labels are provided with the option to request contracts for all global regions in which the iTunes Music Store sells content. Once a contract for a specific global region has been executed, any content that has been delivered to us with Territory Rights within that global region will automatically be made available for sale in that region. The iTunes Store receives the audio/video and makes it available in the format it comes from the artist or production company.”

So I guess it's completely whether the artists & labels want to bother requesting contracts for a certain region that determines the content
