My iPhone battery drains too much overnight!
My battery was at least 50% full when I went to bed. I woke up 8 hours later (yes I slept in!) and the battery was almost dead. Is this because it's on wifi? Obviously I wasn't using it while I was sleeping. Is there a trick to maximizing the battery life?

Inappropriate?Did you turn off the display? Perhaps it didnt auto-kill it for some reason.
Mine is still full this morning.

Inappropriate?I thought it was, but I'll double check tonight to be sure.

Inappropriate?Did you have bluetooth turned on?
I just turned mine on, ill see if it affects the charge tonight -
Inappropriate? For overnight recharging the best thing to do is use the power adapter and plug it into the wall. Otherwise, if you prefer to use your computer it has to be on. Here's Apple's notes on the subject:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.ht...
Your computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPhone battery may drain. -
Inappropriate?PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!! I have the similar prob with my iphone keeping a charge. when the iphone is fully charged it drains to '20%' within 4 hrs(and thats just standby time) and the iphone gets really warm when its charging unless i have the power off. Please someone help! Thank you.
I’m frustrated, and confused!

Inappropriate?hi, ma99ie -- have you tried the apple store for help with this one? if it's getting that warm all the time, you might have a defective phone and they'll be able to replace it for you.
-
Inappropriate? Is your iPhone battery is drained when it's charging? or when it just sits there?
-
Inappropriate?I took my iPhone in and couldn't replicate the error I was having to show them the error, but they gave me a new iPhone anyway. Took my word for it. Awesome.

Inappropriate?I'm having the same battery drain problem. If I leave the iPhone unconnected overnight (from being fully charged), often the next morning it's down to about 10-20 percent. The Apple store replaced the first iPhone, but now the new replacement is doing exactly the same thing after only one week. Surely, if it's in sleep mode it shouldn't drain the battery that much?
I have about 1GB of music stored, and Bluetooth is turned on - but again, if the phone is in sleep mode why would this affect the battery so much? -
Inappropriate?Hmmm, I suppose it is possible that one of the apps on this phone is stuck in a loop and is using up battery resources. Have you rebooted the iPhone lately and still had this problem.
I’m possibly reaching here
-
Inappropriate?Yep - I have tried re-booting - it made no difference. I turned off the Bluertooth to try that, no difference there either. It does appear that if I leave the phone plugged in (even though the computer is off, and Apple advises not leaving it plugged in when the computer is turned off) it doesn't drain the battery as much as leaving the phone unplugged.
I've searched other message boards and it appears that a LOT of people are having the exact same trouble. It appears that maybe it is a software issue that has transpired from downloading/upgrading to the nesest softwre version from Apple. -
Inappropriate?Thank you for your help Lane B, I purchased my iphone from ebay I unlocked and everything. I finally figured out what to do. My Wifi drained my battery FAST so when not in use i turn it off and that made a HUGE difference. I thank everyone for your help.
I’m happy happy joy joy

Inappropriate?I've noticed similar issues with my iPhone and what I found was that my iPhone was making and losing a wifi connection multiple times during the night. Where my iPhone sits at night on the nightstand, I only get intermittent wifi - so it was switching between wifi and edge.
I was able to dramatically reduce my battery "drain" during the night by disabling wifi and just using edge for email and SMS alerts. Now I only drain about 5% of the battery overnight.
Hopefully that will be of use to someone else. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the suggestion. Eagerly looking forward to this being the solution, I tried turning off the wi-fi, and hoped that this action would solve this little mystery.........but alas, exactly the same as before, leaving the iPhone unplugged and turned off (with w-fi off) it still drained to 5-10% total power again!

Inappropriate?I just started having the same problem. My iPhone was fine for the first three weeks only needing a charge every couple days. Now the last two nights it has been going completely dead after having a full charge. I tried turning off bluetooth last night and still it died. I doubt it's wifi since it was within 10 ft of my router and has never had problems before.
Is there a way to do a hard reboot? I may try restoring it to try it fresh. -
Inappropriate?Have any of you set the iPhone to auto-check for new mail relatively often or installed any applications, especially ones that might run in the background? I've got push mail and WiFi turned on with it officially checking for new mail once an hour (officially because push mail shouldn't need to check in the same way), and leaving my iPhone asleep overnight hardly hits it's charge at all.
-
Inappropriate?I had no changes whatsoever except bluetooth which I turned off the following night.
-
Inappropriate? As a general rule, for any phone, I charge it when I go to sleep. This has worked for every phone (& iPod) I've had for the last 12 years. This way, I have the phone near me at night (in case of a call) and I don't have to worry about when to charge it during the day.
I’m unsure

Inappropriate?IPhones Suk... Thats sad cause I love Apple, I have Ipods, Mac Books, G4's etc... Sorry to say as pretty as it looks, very disssssapppoointing... I had one and thank god was able to return in to my provider, that was at about 45 days, its garbadge. Its a stupid phone, not a smartphone ;)

Without any substantive complaints besides "It's a stupid phone" I'm not convinced of your arguments. -
Inappropriate?I'm having the same battery drain problem.
I solve this problem by "Reset all setting" under General. -
Inappropriate? If Apple is indeed listening - I may have figured out the cause of this problem and it's not obvious and not anything said so far. Can I get a consulting fee? (Seriously.)
I’m greedy!
