My MacBook Pro may be a lemon.

My MacBook pro has now had its screen, motherboard and hard disk replaced. Is that normal for an 14 month old machine?

If you have the APP, I guess you don't have to worry about it until your 3 years of protection are over.

To tell you the truth a lot of the problems come up due to poor tech. knowledge from the technician. I used to have my MacBook Pro serviced at a local Apple licensed technician ...well... that was until my friend's MacBook came back from the shop looking weird. She had to have her microphone replaced in her screen and the technician did not order a new screen(what apple recommends is a new unit). The guy ordered only the mic. Then he had to rip the screen open to replace the wire. He then found out that he was not supposed to do that. The entire screen was now broken to "repair it" he grabbed some crazy glue, contact glue and wood chips (YES wood chips, the type used to hold joints together) and he glued the screen back up.

When my friend showed me the computer the screen fell apart and we found the pieces of wood stuck on the screen's edge... we ended up going back to the shop and the technician said a "new" part would take 4 days. My friend had to catch a flight back home so she couldn't stay that long. We ended up calling Apple and reporting the technician.

Apple properly replaced and paid for the parts... Now we have our Macs serviced at the Apple store or at a trust worthy place that has had customer reviews published on the net.

Other than that I have had 7 batteries replaced (blame Sony for that), 4 power supplies (bad connectors and over heating issues), 1 wrist rest cover (paint came off). The hardware itself has worked perfectly so far. I have upgraded the memory and hard disk

I had the same stuff replaced too for a 12 - 13 month old Macbook Pro. What was your problem? My Macbook Pro essentially had a dead screen (completely black) and I found out the motherboard had died. I saw other people have had this problem too (all with Macbook Pros this old - yearish).

    What's with this?!
