My remote isn't magnetized?

I have the 24Inch imac and I can't seem to get my remote to stick to the side of my monitor. I now not such a big deal, but I swear when I was in the store they just stuck them there, that they were somehow magnetized. My friend has a 20 inch and it just sticks to the side like it's magnetized. Any ideas?
