Noisy O/P to HDMI from MacBook Pro (early Intel)
When I connect an audio wire on to my Sony HDTV I get noise. How do I correct this? Might it eb the quality of the RCA mini jack I'm placing into the port? And is going optical to HDMI costly?

Inappropriate?try raising the volume on your macbook and lowering the volume on your tv. You can also try a different audio 3.5mm cable. However i'm not sure about the HDMI as MacBooks or any macs for that matter dont have HDMI outputs and i've never tried the optical output via the 3.5mm jack at the side of the macbook. What I would suggest you try is a DVI cable and use a 3.5mm to the RCA cable(that's the red and white right/left audio cable[male]). Hope this helps

Inappropriate?Thanks for offering Brent,
Let me add some more info. The video connection between the Pro and the HDTV HDMI port works great. The audio, not so good. Raising the volume doesn't work, and I've tried another 3.5 mm jack. So, now I'll try optical!
Any recommnedations or thoughts on optical audio out of a MacBook Pro?
Thanks, pk
I’m thankful
