Problem: Using the iPhone Simulator
I installed the iPhone SDK and can launch the iPhone Simulator, so I thought I'd try to run some iPhone apps I downloaded from the Apps Store (don't have an iPhone or iPod Touch yet). But how do I do this? If I drag/drop an app onto the iPhone simulator, I first get an encouraging green plus sign, but then there's a msg that "Safari can't download this file." Documentation is scanty. What to do?

Inappropriate?Does the iPhone Simulator you're using map to the iPhone 2.0 OS?
-
It looks like it is 1.0..I have tried the same thing. I just downloaded the latest one today...but it is the free version. I have not paid the $99 to officially join the program to develop apps. I am not a developer...I just want to see what is out there before I sign up and buy a phone...any ideas? -
The iPhone simulator I downloaded yesterday as part of the freebie iPhone SDK is indeed ver 1.0, but that shouldn't make a difference, one would think, its who idea is to test iPhone apps. But how do you use it? -
Inappropriate? You don't add apps that way to iPhone Simulator. You have to add them to a specific folder. However, iPhone apps are built for ARM processors (like in the iPhone) not Intel processors (like in a Mac) so they won't run regardless of how you get them in there. Sorry.
