Safari Customize Toolbar doesn't open
When I two-finger click on the toolbar(that has back and forward buttons, address bar and Google search) and choose the Customize Toolbar... option, it doesn't do ANYTHING, well except one thing, it still thinks it's in "customize mode" so now i can't access the address bar or press any buttons, i can ONLY drag them. Does anyone ever had this problem. I've tried reinstalling Safari and I also did Archive & Install and the problem is still there. It's like a virus of some sort. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Inappropriate? Are you using Leopard or Tiger?
in Safari 3 under Leopard the toolbar does not open like that.
you actually have to go " view> customize toolbar " and then click "done" -
Inappropriate?I'm using Leopard and even going to "view > customize toolbar" it's still doesn't open it and still gets in the customize mode, two-finger clicking on the toolbar itself is the same thing, it's a shortcut. I've tried almost everything. Could some third-party application have caused it? Do I need to do a clean install?

Inappropriate? That's a good question have you installed any of those Safari add-ons like "code viewers" or "speed" optimizers? or anything like that? Do you use "Onyx" or "Leopard Cache cleaner" ? , both have Safari optimization options and speed boosters. They could have caused a problem with your setup. Even if you have Safari 2 and installed Safari 3 and then back to 2, it could have caused problems with your settings. My girlfriend's Safari is also crashing and we have no actual clue why it is doing that...
I’m dunno

Inappropriate?it's funny that you mention those two programs, i've never heard about them until one member of macosx.com suggested that i try those two programs, and said it might solve this problem that i have.

Inappropriate?Well, "Onyx" and "Leopard Cache cleaner" are wonderful little programs that could help you. However, depending on what your problem is they could fix it or make it worst. Some times is a trial and error process.
Did your computer come with Leopard or did you do an update/upgrade to it?
If so did you do a full clean install or just a simple update?
Did your Safari problems start after the upgrade?

Inappropriate?Getting the same problem with a clean Leopard install.
I've added 3 add-ons in the past using SIMBL (just removed) :
SafariSource
SafariTidy
XMarksPlugin
I also have Onyx installed.
Actually running 4.0.3 (5531.9).
In my case I did remove the next/prev buttons + address bar to see if that could make any changes and are finally left with a totally unusable browser.
I truly wish to get a solution to this issue as I need it for work (I'm a web developer)
Looking for any tips to get Safari "Customize Toolbar ..." working.
Warm regards,
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?whew! I found the solution:
"Via the Finder: Your User Account>Library>Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.safari.plist file to the trash, then restart Safari."

I hope it works for you guys, too! :)
I’m thankful
