Inappropriate? What application did you use to test this?
I tested Safari 3.1.2 using "Big Top" one of Apple's test apps . Every time the memory was returned to the system... -
I've had a problem with this as well. My MacBook Pro gets incredibly hot (fans at full speed) and when I checked the current processes using the istat nano widget it showed that Safari was using around 150%.
It seems to happen on full Flash sites. -
Inappropriate?Hey Marc, that's not a memory leak...
Any site which uses heavy multimedia such as video, audio and flash animation will make your fans kick in after a while because it will use a lot of your CPU processing time. In other words heat is generated and it must be cooled down... That's all...
A Memory leak is when a piece of software uses say 100MB (as an example) and after closing, the memory allocated for that software does not go back to the system as free memory. Hence your system memory could drain to the point where your system crashes.
