Safari on Windows XP SP3 constantly crashing, long "startup" time :-(
A couple of months ago, I switched from primarily using Firefox to Safari. However, I have run in to some problems the past couple of months.
First off, Safari takes forever to initially load. Once I open Safari, it appears I can start typing a URL in the address bar, but once I start typing, Safari "freezes." I then have to wait more than 30 seconds before I am able to start typing again. This also applies to clicking on a task bar menu or trying to use the search bar.
Also, Safari crashes on me all the time. Safari might just randomly decide to close down sometimes. I am highly considering switching back to Firefox, since it doesn't crash on me, and therefore I won't be losing any work ever again.
If anyone knows the solutions to my problems, I would love to hear them. I am running Windows XP SP3.

Inappropriate?Hello! I too run XP SP3 and have the same issues! When I first downloaded the browser it searched around pretty quick but the more I use it the slower it seems to get! Have you had any help or comments on this issue?
Mike

Inappropriate? That seems to be exactly the case with me, too. At first Safari ran quick and smoothly, but now I'm almost afraid to use it. I've still had no help on this matter whatsoever.

Inappropriate?I had the same problem with 4.0 beta, then I moved to 3.2.3 stable. Now they released 4.0 stable, but still the problem exists
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Likewise, I've observed the hanging issue on Windows XP SP3 / Safari 4.0.2 (530.19.1).
When Safari starts, it typically freezes for up to 30s during which it's not possible to type into the URL or search bars or click on the "Most Visited Sites" buttons which are displaying.
Hmm ... is this only affecting people using Safari / XP on wireless networks?
I’m frustrated enough to switch back
