Inappropriate?I've never had that problem, the only scratch I've had was by a screwdriver. If you use any Marware products they tend to scratch the screen too. You could scratch your screen with the keyboard if your screen is bend like this ) or if you put a lot of weight on top. Also I have seen that Targus / RackGear computer bags tend to put a lot of pressure on the MacBook Pro cover (back side of the screen) creating white spots or dead pixels (depends on the model too).

Inappropriate?Hello,
I have the exact same problem. When I first purchased my MacBook Pro, I contacted Apple to ask if I should get a Marware microfiber keyboard cover (often recommended for previous models) to protect the display from coming into contact with the keys. I was told that this was not necessary on the MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, the display has been developing a horizontal scratch across the center of the screen, which lines up exactly with the sharp metal edge just below the spacebar of the keyboard.
Perhaps if this edge were rounded, this problem could be avoided in future models. I am very careful with my MacBook Pro, and I keep it in a Booq "Vyper" case whenever taking it anywhere. But I think that when it is picked up, the center of the lid is pretty soft, and it flexes, causing the display to come into contact with the metal edge mentioned above.
Since the scratch seemed to be getting worse, and did not come off when cleaned with "iKlear," I contacted Apple again and was told to have it checked out at an Apple Genius Bar. They verified the problem and recommended that I send the unit to "The Depot" under the AppleCare Protection Plan. They called me back today and said that Apple had deemed the scratch as "accidental" and not a manufacturing defect. They said I could buy a new display for $1,298.95 plus tax, or decline the repair and have the laptop sent back to me. When I called Apple to decline the repair, the agent thought that I was in the right, and talked to her supervisor for almost 20 minutes. But the supervisor said "no."
So a word to the wise: Until Apple changes the style of their laptops so that there are no sharp edges to contact the screen, put a microfiber cloth over the keys before closing the lid, to protect the screen.

P.S. My wife has the same model and her display has no scratch, since she always leaves her MacBook Pro at home. This is why I think the scratch has to do with the pliability of the lid when carried. -
I posted this about a year ago. Months later, I just happened to mention the problem to an Apple Customer Support person who happened to be a manager, and she told me to send my MacBook Pro in and they would replace the entire screen. And they did! Wow! I use the Macally cloth now to protect the screen whenever I transport the MacBookPro. -
Inappropriate? The Marware microfiber left marks on my screen because it was too chunky, so I decided to buy a much thinner cloth. The one I have now, Macally, is much better and does not leave marks on my screen

it works with the MBP too even though is not listed...

Inappropriate?i have a scratch on top top right corner of my mac book pro screen is there a way to warranty it?

Inappropriate? If it came that way, maybe, but if it happened after you owned the product, they will more than likely deem it "accidental" and not cover it. See my story above. But give Apple a call, just so you feel comfortable that you tried everything you could; couldn't hurt. They have the most intelligent and friendliest product support folks of any company on earth, bar none.

Inappropriate? Why does anyone throw the white protective sheet that comes placed between the screen & the keyboard when you purchase the macbook pro? I decided to keep it. I place it back after using my macbook pro before closing the screen (lid/cover) and haven't noticed any scratches so far.
