Sync Apple TV automatically with iTunes

I am new to Apple TV and only use iTunes for syncing with my iPhone. I purchased a season of programming using the TV, and the first 4 episodes downloaded automatically. However an additional episode is now out, and when I saw it I was only given the opportunity to purchase it (again!). I checked on my Mac's iTunes, and the episode began downloading automatically, which I did not want it to do. How do I assure that the new episodes download to the Apple TV - and how can I get this episode over from my Mac to the Apple TV?
