Inappropriate?There is a bar along the side of the songs, artists, contacts, and other lists showing the alphabet that will easily jump to any part of the list quickly. Still, a search function could be useful if you don't remember the first letter of something. -
Inappropriate?well there is 3rd party app for searhcing contacts and calendar (by dialing a date).

What do you mean by any other iPhone developer? I'm talking about Spotlight for iPhone.

i mean "They" is Apple corp. But any other iPhone developer should be able to make Spotlight for iPhone. Then again - Quick Silver for iPhone would be even better! .)

I'd rather have Apple itself make good apps then third party developers. But that's just me.
