Time Machine Required to Back-up with Time Capsule?
do you have to be running OS X Leopard with Time Machine to be able to back up using the Time Capsule? I run Tiger and I can't seem to figure out how to back up my files on the Time Capsule.

Inappropriate?I had the same issue before I upgraded my MBP.
You can mount the Time Capsule as a normal hard drive and use any backup software you want, like Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper.
The Time Machine stuff (rolling back to any backup point, and so forth) won't be available to you, it basically works like a AirPort Extreme with a hard drive attached to it.
You might want to use a ethernet cable if you are copying the entire hard drive over (or also if for the first Time Machine backup), because it can take a long time over Wi-Fi.

Inappropriate?so there's no way to do a wireless back up w/o time machine?

Inappropriate?Super Duper can append to the original backup. That might be fast enough to work over a wireless connection reasonably once you've kicked off the first backup, but I haven't tried that. Carbon Copy Cloner might do the same thing, I'm not sure.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate? You CAN do a wireless backup, but it will just be very slow. Especially if you are backing up the whole darn thing every time. That's why Time Machine is so good, because after the initial full backup, it only backs up the files that need to be, which make wireless backups more feasible (though still slow).
If you found a program that will only backup modified or new files, that might be the ticket; however, for the first full backup, I would recommend using an ethernet cable.
