Universal dock not designed for iPhone??!
I just bought a universal dock yesterday. The first time I plugged the iPhone in, I got a "This accessory is not designed for iPhone, would you like to switch to Airplane mode?" message Happened again today.
Why would it say that?

Inappropriate? Is this an Apple Dock? If not, this may be "made for ipod" and not necessarily for iPhone. The specs for iPhone are tighter than that of the iPod. Not to worry, if it continues to work -you should be fine.

Inappropriate?I have the same issue. It was a genuine Apple Dock (universal), purchase from Apple online, however does not play video from iPhone 3G and gives and error on the iPhone when docked.
Might have shipped me older stock?

Inappropriate?Bought the iPhone 3g in January and a genuine Apple universal dock. The package sais that the iPhone 3g is supported but I get this nasty message all the time. Every 10 or 15 minutes the phone being docked (but not connected to my iMac, so no power) tells me that that accessory is not made for iphone.
That's more than frustrating as many other people seem to have this problem. Please Apple, fix this.
Thanks.

Inappropriate?Yes it's the official Universal Dock made by Apple. I'm wondering if it's a power issue. I have it connected to a (powered) USB hub but maybe if the voltage is slightly low, the iPhone detects something is wrong and puts up the message.
Like I say it's intermittent. Didn't happen at all yesterday nor today so far.
I’m undecided
