why can't I open printer setup utility to add a printer?
I cannot add a printer.
How do I add my printer when the + doesn't work - no printer option to select
When I attempt to open printer setup utility, it flashes in the toolbar but doesn't stay and under no circumstance will it open.
How do I solve this problem?

I am having the exact problem mentioned above. I just installed Tiger. Not only will the printer setup utility not open, but my PowerRip X software no longer works either. Any suggestions? -

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem with the printer setup up utility and an inability to add a printer in the printer/ fax pane of system preferences.
It may be related but I have also recently had an issue with OS X recognizing my external drive (which worked fine for 6+ months). The firewire and USB port detect other devices fine.
Additionally. I have started getting "data fork" errors with toast.
All these issues have been noticed in the same week after a software update.
I run 10.4.11

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem. I have a macbook pro with 10.5.4 operating system. I need to print out some photography for a client, and finally connected to my Epson 2200 with Firewire. Connecting to a printer has never been a problem. But I have no Printer utility anymore, and I can't get Photoshop's printing menu to recognize a new printer. I downloaded this driver, but to no avail. I am holding on for the tech line now. The probabl will want my credit card before answering my question. If anyone has an answer PLEASE email me directly : melodysmedimix@gmail.com

Inappropriate?One thing that may help: Leopard took away the usual spot for printer utilities. Now, it's located in the System Preferences if you're using Leopard. It's not easy to find, and they didn't do a good job of letting people know about this change. Choose Printer & Fax (who faxes anymore!) from the System Preferences. That might help a bit -- if you're using Leopard.

Inappropriate?I've had this problem too, and I don't remember what fixed it. Try running Disk Utility and repairing permissions; that fixes a lot of small problems like this. -

Inappropriate?Disk Utility should always be in /Applications/Utilities for any typical Mac OS X installation. If not, you should be able to get it off the system CD.
