Why can't my macs see the usb printer plugged into my AirPort Extreme?
I recently added a MacBook Pro and an Airport Extreme to the G4 tower(osx.3.9) and usb printer I already had. MBP couldn't find Airport, so connected by ethernet to set up(macs usually have simple set-up instructions, but not Airport! Need to be a tech to understand how to set it up, and I'm not!
Plugged printer into usb on Airport, and connected G4 by ethernet.
I expected the computers to see each other, but they don't. They don't see the printer either. What's going on?
I tried the same thing that I did with the Airport...plugged it in directly, then added printer in the "print & fax" pane. But then couldn't figure out how to change connection from usb. Mac help says to connect by "rendezvous", any ideas?

Inappropriate? Are the printer drivers installed on your Macs? They won't see the printer if they don't have the drivers. If you do have the drivers, try these troubleshooting tips: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1253

Yes, they are because if I connect the printer directly to the mac instead of the Airport Extreme, it works fine. It just won't work (can't find it) connected to the AE where I want to share it with my other mac. The macs see each other, but not the printer. -
Did you try Apple's troubleshooting suggestions?
