Why can't we access/edit Address Book from within mail.app?
We could add notes, change address info, etc. It would be great!

Inappropriate?I meant be able to modify address book information from within mail.app.

well when the "Address Panel" opens up you can right click on a contact and select "edit card" and mail will open the "address book" app in edit mode for you. Not really a "build-in" solution but it does the job pretty nicely ... from there you can modify, add, delete, etc...
You can also customize your toolbar and add the address book link to your mail toolbar (under: view > customize toolbar...) -
Since mail, address book and safari are so closely linked, I figure that I should be able to access a person's address book entry (via a sidebar?) without opening the address book. For example, if someone emails me their favourite colour, I'd like to be able to stick it in the notes section of the address book. -
I know what you mean, you can give Apple some feedback by going here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
you'll have to click on the OS X icon since mail is part of OS X
