Why does my AppleTV keep disappearing from iTunes?
Apple TV disappears from iTunes from time to time. I'm not 100% sure what triggers this, but it happens at least 3 times a week, I think maybe related to when my Mac goes to sleep and comes back on - but sometimes I do this, and AppleTV is still there. When it's missing from iTunes I have to quit iTunes and re-start it for it to find the AppleTV again. This has been happening for months, through to iTunes 8.1 and Apple TV 2.3.1

Inappropriate?When your mac sleeps, the IP address assigned to it may expire. The ATV is still looking for it's last known address. Rebooting devices will force a search and rediscovery. This problem can be avoided by using fixed IP addresses.
