Why does my iMac have a "self assigned IP address" rather than a connection to the internet?
Why does my iMac say "Self-Assigned IP address" and not connect to the network when 1) it has been working fine and 2) the other computers on the network are able to connect without any issues?
How can I make my iMac connect to the internet again. It has never done this before!

Inappropriate?I have the same problem. In the past when it has happened I have turned airport on/off DSL modem, restarted then usually, not this time, all of a sudden it would work again.
I hope we get an answer from someone who knows.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Agreed. When in doubt, restart.[I mean everything iMac, Router, Modem, etc] If still in doubt, check your cables and/or range to Wifi base.
