Why don't iCal and iPhone calendar colors match?
My wife and I share calendars through publish and subscribe in our iCal programs. We have both chosen the same colors for our calendars in iCal. Both of us also have iPhones. The colors of the calendars on our iPhones never match our iCal calendars -- or each others' phones. Is there a way of fixing this? If not, will Apple ever fix it? FWIW, we are both on new laptops: hers an Air, mine a 17" MacBook Pro. Both of us are using OS X, 10.5.6

Inappropriate?Yes, I've discovered this too and so have a lot of other people.
Please fix this Apple. It seems like such a simple thing you've forgotten.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I just upgraded to iTunes 8.1 last night and noticed that all my colors were the same between my iPhone and iCal. I don't know if that's something they fixed or if it was just luck. Give it a shot.
I’m thrilled!

Inappropriate?I upgraded last night, synched my iTouch, but alas the colors still do not match. I wonder if there is something extra I have to do.

Inappropriate?I upgraded too, and the colors match now. Or so it seems at first glance. I'll be interested to see if it stays that way. Meanwhile, it looks like this is fixed.
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate? So you upgraded, synched, and sha-zamm, they match? Did you do anything else?
I’m feeling left out

Inappropriate? If your colors don't match, turn calendar syncing off in iTunes, syncing the phone, turning calendar syncing back on, and sync again. This worked for me.

Inappropriate?Tried what Gohnjanotis suggested. It didn't work. I tried choosing different colors on iCal, but that didn't change anything.
I have an iTouch, however. So maybe that's why. It doesn't seem like it should be.
I’m bummed

Inappropriate? The iTunes upgrade did nothing for my iTouch in terms of matching iCal colors. But I was able to combine some suggestions from other posts to find a "rubics-cube-like" workaround. I found that syncing any single selected calender it always appeared in blue. But when I would sync any two selected calendars, one would appear in red and the other orange. When you add a third selection it appears as either blue or green. And finally, when you add a fourth you got what color remained (either blue or green). So I began experimenting with the sync selected calendars button by turning my calendars off or on and syncing them until I would get one color right, then turn calendars off or on and syncing until another fell into the right color. It took me a good half hour but now my iTouch matches my iCal. Kind of a pain, but at least it works!

Inappropriate?Quick tip: Calendar color fix for iPhone and iPod touch posted at touchtip.com by Michael Lucas, July 14th, 2008: Calendar on the iPhone will assign colors in a certain order for your first five calendars: red, orange, blue, green, and purple. Afterward, any more calendars are assigned a random color out of those five. To manipulate this, use iTunes to sync only selected calendars in the “Info” tab. First sync the one that you want to be red, then sync again including your second calendar that you want to be orange, and so forth. You can create extra calendars to use to “skip” a color if you wish, then delete later at your leisure.

Inappropriate?I just did Erin's suggestion from Michael Lucas and found that an iPod now accepts six colors, with the sixth being Pink!! Thanks for the help.

Inappropriate? Now things are starting to make sense. It's not great, but it's tolerable. I finally went back in and just changed my iCal colors to match the ones on the iTouch. It's all a bit ridiculous, but there are some solutions.
I’m tolerating it.

Inappropriate? The only problem now is when I try to sync with mobileme...the colors get messed up again. Any thoughts?
