Why the 2009 Macbook Pro's highest resolution is only 1280 X 800 for the samsung syncmaster 305T ?
I just bought the new 2009 Macbook Pro 15 inch, using the samsung syncmaster 305T. The highest resolution macbook recognizes is 1280X800
The correct highest resolution for the samsung syncmaster 305T should be 2560x1600
I changed to the more powerful NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT card and still i cant get a higher resolution. I have called Apple technical support and they know nothing :-(( told me to go to the store. yea! yea! yea!
Please help! this is so annoying....

Inappropriate? If you're using the miniDisplayPort to DVI connector, there could be your problem.
The monitor only reports having one DVI channel to listen to, so it cant receive anything more than 1280x800 pixels.
With large screens, yours being a 30 inch display, you need Dual DVI input. Apple does offer this adapter, but its $99 and consumes both the miniDisplayPort and one USB port for power.

Inappropriate? This is ridiculous... and happening to me. Perhaps this is why they're offering black laptops now, they have begun to turn to the dark side. What is this Macrosoft?! $99 adapter because they wanted a slimmer dvi connector that monitors won't accept until 2015? That will be a full 3 years after Obama's second term!
I’m annoyed, vaguely pissed

Inappropriate?Same problem with the new MacPro. Just setting up a replacement MacPro 2x2.93 Quad-Core Xeon with a ATI Radeon HD 4870. I go to plugin my 2 30" Apple Displays and find some kind of new mini connector thing???.
So I had to steal my girlfriend's MiniDisplayPort to DVI adapter and now one of my beautiful big displays will only display at 1280x800...
And now I have to shell out ANOTHER $99 for yet ANOTHER display adapter???
Seriously, Apple? When people are shelling out the big bucks for a MacPro tower with the highest end video card you sell, give us a regular size DVI display input.
Or at the VERY LEAST include an adapter in the box.
Seriously...
I’m very frustrated and pissed at having to shell out another $99!

Inappropriate? How annoying. It works fine in higher resolution than this with other monitors...
I’m frustrated
