Why won't the screen saver start?
When I walk away from my desk, I like to start the screen saver. I do this to "lock" my laptop, requiring a password to be entered when coming out of the screensaver. I use the upper-right hot corner to invoke the screensave. Very infrequently it doesn't work, I just can't start the screensaver. It appears that a reboot is the solution to reset everything. Any thoughts?

Inappropriate?Have you tried changing the hot corner? Maybe move it to the lower right? Also, does it work on an idle timer?

Inappropriate?I have the same problem. The "Start Screensaver" hot corner doesn't work no matter what corner you put it in.

Inappropriate?Check your System Prefs to make sure don't have the Energy Saver settings set to "Never" when you have it plugged in or running on battery power. This is one thing to check when the screen saver is not working properly. Also check the Screen Saver start slider (sys. prefs/desktop & screensaver) isn't set to never.
I’m happy to assist.

Inappropriate?I experience this problem intermittently myself. About once a week my Macbook has trouble coming out of sleep mode. The password dialog never appears and the only way to get it to appear is to close the lid and reopen it. Once I've done that, the screensaver simply stoa working, whether I try to activate it via the hot corner or by waiting the set amount of time. I've triple-checked my settings and am positive they are working as 90% of the time things are fine and a reboot always fixed this when it does happen. It's very frustrating!
I’m frustrated
