Inappropriate?I am very excited about this feature! My only question is, will people be able to donate w/o having to sign up for an account?
I’m excited.
-
Inappropriate?Hi Travis - at this point donors do have to sign up for an account. This makes things work a lot more smoothly with tracking donations to your organization. It's very easy to sign up for a donor account though, and hopefully donors will see the benefits of signing up - being able to print their donation receipts, track their giving history, and easily give future donations online.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Hey Ryan,
Is there anyway to set the default fund that people donate to? Right now it simply defaults to the first fund in the list... and actually I would prefer to have an option of which funds are even "alive" for donations... make sense?
thanks!
I’m awaiting.

Inappropriate?Hi Travis,
Right now we don't have a way to define a default fund; sorry about that.
However, in regards to your second question - having an option of which funds are "alive" for donations - that is actually already in place, but wasn't working because of a bug. Thanks for pointing it out - we've already deployed a fix. Now, when someone goes to your Donate Now page, they should only see your "2008 October Kraków" fund (and any others that you designate as "Public Funds".
Thanks for letting me know of this bug - hope this helps! -
Awesome, that's perfect, thanks! -
Inappropriate?Yeah, it probably seems like I don't have a life :) But I do, and my work schedule is super flexible...
Anyway - I had a donor register and donate via PayPal today, and while her registration info came through, the donation info has not... is there a time delay? I see in the PayPal transaction details:
Custom:
mode=done;donor_id=14597;organization_id=10076;fund_id=
Not sure if it got cut off on the display, or truncated in transaction... -
Inappropriate?Travis,
That's too bad - sorry that that donation didn't get recorded properly. There is no time delay - it should be recorded right away. From looking at the transaction details you posted, it looks like the fund is not getting set for some reason. I'll have a look at it. In the meantime, you can record the donation by hand for that donor, and it will show up in their records. Sorry again for the difficulty! -
Inappropriate?Hey no trouble at all :) I know it's in beta, and stuff happens, I work in IT so I've got plenty of patience... well for the most part (we all have our days)
I’m patient

Inappropriate?Hey, had another donor donate, he's also one of our users. I guess this time when he donated it gave him the "2008 Krakow" as the fund, which is good, but once it processed PayPal marked it as "2003-2004 Travis".
And it didn't record the information... here's the custom field output from PayPal:
mode=done;donor_id=14357;organization_id=10076;fund_id=10114 -
Inappropriate?Hi Travis,
Sorry again about the bumps in the road with PayPal. I tracked down a bug that was causing the fund to be sent incorrectly, so that should be fixed now.
I just sent a donation myself to be sure that it works, and it did complete successfully. Could you check your records to make sure that it all works? You should also have gotten an email notification of my donation.
Thanks!
Ryan
I’m glad to get some bugs squashed
-
Inappropriate?Hey yeah! Looks like things are good in the pipes now :)
It recorded, sent me a copy of the receipt (to which I replied to, earlier), and went into the right fund too! Good work, thanks!
You want me to send back the PayPal test?
I’m thankful, confident, happy.

Inappropriate?I'm new to Donor Tools and I have lots of questions. First, I think your site is really cool and thanks for looking out for small (but growing) non profits like ours.
My first question is regarding fees: Are donations hit with a fee from Donor Tools and a fee from PayPal?
The next is does Donor Tools have a recurring billing option?
Thanks,
Kelli
I’m excited.
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the kind words Kelli!
There is no fee for online donations on the Donor Tools side. PayPal does charge a fee (usually 2%-3%).
Currently we don't support recurring donations, sorry about that. We are working to improve our online donations feature, and recurring billing is a request that we get a lot.
I’m happy
