Windows doesn't have Cocoa, the programing environment that Tweetie is made in, as such, it seems like a poor possibility.

Read this on Wikipedia "There are also open source implementations of major parts of the Cocoa framework that allows cross-platform (including Microsoft Windows) Cocoa application development, such as GNUstep, Cappuccino, and Cocotron."
Looks like you might be able to make a cocoa application run on a windows computer =)
I’m extremely hopeful and think Patrick Patience should not quit his day job.

WOAH...when did I get voted to the top? -
Apparently there's lots of issues getting cocoa onto windows: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/79... -
Inappropriate? You can make a version of Tweetie for Windows?

Inappropriate?Incidentally, those frameworks that have been ported to windows are umm... not so good, and more relevantly, not the frameworks that would really be necessary to make a decent iteration of Tweetie on Windows.
Sorry to burst your bubble guys.

Inappropriate? How about porting Tweetie over to Windows, and windows mobile? there are some great touch screen windows mobile phones with users that would love to have this app.

Port Tweetie to Windows & Windows Mobile.
I’m sad

A windows CE mobile lite for phones version of Tweetie has even less chance of happening than a Windows version. There just isn't the foundation for it.
That said, Loren has repeatedly said, he'll make Tweetie for whatever phone he is using. So if some one can some how replace his iphone with an HTC Touch Pro 2, or some such, maybe it will happen (but I doubt it :) ) -
Inappropriate?ahhh, so its not about technical stuff its just wont.
-
Oh, I guess if we had like 50 engineers we could get it done for windows in a reasonable amount of time (2 years or so). But we'd have to actually really want to spend 2 years using windows (ugh). :) -
Have to agree with you ashponders. Why would you want to build an app for a machine that is useless? You'd have to use Windows for 2 years as you said, and I feel pained just thinking about it. Just improve on what you have. -
Inappropriate? It's a bit of both I think, plus how are they going to port it?
They could be spending that time making their product better, rather than handing it down from on high to the dirty babble of PC users. No offence lol. -
Inappropriate?lol.

Inappropriate?I've read that the developers of Tweetie are Mac geeks, and hence don't plan on making Tweetie available to Windows users. That's fine, and I can respect that decision.
But this isn't just a Windows vs. Mac preference thing. There are a LOT of people (myself included) that are required to use a PC for work. It's not by choice, so why am I being punished by not being able to use Tweetie on my PC?
Not only would these PC users be happy, but think of the extra revenue! I bought the iPhone app (which I love) but I won't pay the $15 for the Mac app. If it was ported to Windows and I could use Tweetie all the time, everywhere I go, then I would be happy to shell out the fifteen bucks.
I think by not porting Tweetie to Windows, the developers are losing out on a lot of extra revenue. Please reconsider!

A Windows version could mean more revenue!.

Inappropriate?I love your application Tweetie, both for Macs & iPod//iPhone but I was wondering why don't you do a Tweetie application for Windows? Many PC users would love that application.

Inappropriate? When is Tweetie for Windows scheduled to be released? I saw the cocoa argument. Just give us an Adobe Air version. That way Tweetie will be cross platform.

There is no release date because it's not going to be released.
Also Adobe Air doesn't use cocoa, so no can do.
He's not rewriting it from scratch just so Windows users can use it.
He has higher standards than that. -
@Matthew L - What do you mean he has "higher standards than that"? Get off of your Mac's iStick and chill out.
Tweetie is a good application, and I use it on my Hackintosh and iPhone. I think it was reasonable to ask this kind of question as I would love to have Tweetie on Windows myself.
So before you go around and start huffing and puffing you iEgo, please think about those who can't afford an Apple and/or are stuck on a Windows machine. -
What I meant was, that in the time he could be spending building an app for Window (which would be nowhere near as good) he could release a huge update for the Mac + iPhone users.
It just wouldn't be worth it. It would be a bad app. -
Then why not search for a Windows developer who has what it takes to make a Windows version happen? Like someone mentioned earlier, the revenue in this application would increase by a lot if it was ported to Windows. To me, it sounds like a poor business decision to not serve the application to a larger market.
I already know this isn't going to happen, so I have already given up on the Tweetie for Windows concept. Fortunately I had a friend who had the Tweetie DMG for OS-X so I used that, and just forked out the $1.99 for the iPhone app. Not a big loss to me, but a bigger loss to the developer as I would have paid the $15 if there was a Windows version. -
I really would have liked to have seen Tweetie for Windows. I can respect the developers decision not to bring it to Windows. I love Tweetie on my iPod Touch. I would not think of using another Twitter client on it. I guess I am stuck using TweetDeck on Windows then. To respond to Matthew L: Having gone from Windows XP to OS X 10.5 and back to Windows Vista then Windows 7. I have to say get over yourself. Mac's are nice and pretty and they do have some very nice features. They also have some limitations as well. Windows is not a perfect OS but if you are a sophisticated user it works quite well. I think that Mac's are a great choice for less educated computer users out there that just want ease of use. -
Sigh... Not everyone can afford a Mac or and iPhone/iPod Touch...
Also, horrible response... Why should one get an expensive device for a $15 application? -
Inappropriate? Now, Now, gents, we're all Gentlemen here, no need to bicker like dogs.
-
Inappropriate?i would suggest using seesmic as it is much more awesome that tweetdeck
-
Inappropriate? Can I ask why you don't just code a Windows app? Surely the market share of the Windows platform makes it a good idea? - I know alot of people with Tweetie for iPhone who only have a PC and would buy it...
-
Inappropriate? My idea is that thing thing works on Microsoft phones and Windows PC's because mac computers suck.
