Avatar cache issue?
How does Tweetie for Mac handle avatar changes? I have several buddies who have gone days with new avatars and Tweetie for Mac is the only app that still shows their old one.

If restarting the app doesn't clear it up, then it means the avatar is still getting pumped through the Twitter's cache. It may take a few days to clear all the pipes.
http://atebits.posterous.com/twitter-... <- is still an issue. If users have busted (large) avatars, Tweetie intentionally ignores them. These users will need to update their profile images so Twitter can rescale them properly.

Inappropriate?I would really love to see this changed.
Some tweeps have no image at all, others have changed their images long ago. I would even accept, clearing the cache manually, if I only knew how.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? For me some users have no image at all and there is no way to get it to display again. It shows up in full size when I click on the image in the user profile view, but not the thumbnail version.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I have this proble too, but in Tweetie for iPhone.
-
Inappropriate?http://atebits.posterous.com/twitter-... might shed some light on the situation.
I’m meh.
-
Inappropriate?Mine don't seem to be cached, though sometimes they do get stuck on blank until I restart Tweetie. I often read through the backlog of tweets when offline, and most of the avatars come up as missing.
-
Inappropriate?macTijn, while that sheds light on the situation, I doubt it makes any of us feel better about it. Probably just more frustrated. That is a post from late March. Why are we still seeing this problem in Tweetie when many other clients have fixed this? Twitteriffic, TweetDeck, twhirl, and others all display avatar images accurately.
Tweetie for Mac and Tweetie for iPhone are the only clients I've used in which, if a user you're following changes their image, the client switches their avatar to a blank one rather than the new image.
This is getting frustrating, as almost half of the icons in my Tweetie timeline now are blank at a time. As much as I love Tweetie, I'm ready to switch do a different client because this is just getting irritating.
I’m frustrated and annoyed.

Full ACK! -
Preaching to the choir, davidcelis :) Although I'm not going to abandon Tweetie on both my macbook and iPhone, I do think it's ultimately frustrating to see other clients work correctly in respect to this problem, while tweetie doesn't. -
Inappropriate?png based images are tending not to cache well. Some are taking 2-3 days to refresh. Or only refresh on a restart
I’m frustrated
-
Or not refreshing at all -
Inappropriate?I don't know if it can help, but I bumped onto this link. I thought it might come in handy: http://twivatar.org/

Inappropriate?I've been having this issue too, but after a reboot of my MacBook today I noticed that ll my missing avatars have come back to life including my own one??
Try it peeps - I know its not the solution, but it might help.
I’m undecided
-
Tried rebooting and it didn't help.. -
Inappropriate?+1 I've got images that have been gone for a week and a half, so I'm guessing it's not same issue as discussed in the posterous link. Restarting Tweetie and rebooting my Mac don't help.
-
Inappropriate?Yeah the avatar issue is pretty sad really. I am getting rather tired of it. Either fix the cache problem or let us manually update missing images. I paid for Tweetie, and this makes me want to quit using it :-(
This problem was reported 2 months ago. Does anyone from Atebits actually read this stuff or not? It has been a long time since an update.
I’m pissed.
-
Inappropriate?Still no updates on this issue? I feel as though atebits doesn't even visit this support site, let alone answer their emails. I have requested help with this issue several times on this website, and through several emails to their support address. I have never gotten a response.
I’m probably gonna switch clients
-
Inappropriate?I think its 72 hours, but that might be for the iPhone. Regardless, one solution that works is reinstalling the app. I hope atebits adds a button to reset avatars soon though!
-
Inappropriate?Reinstalling the app works for some users, but I have at least one or more followers whose avatars just won't show up no matter what I do. Yet they show up on other twitter clients and, of course, on the web. I don't know if it's the file format (shouldn't be) or the size (again shouldn't be) that Tweetie can't handle, but if it's either, it should be such an easy fix.
-
Inappropriate?I guess atebits is not even watching this here. I mailed support@atebits.com about this issue. If that helps...

Inappropriate?Well, if Tweetie is intentionally ignoring large avatars and the "solution" is to ask all my friends / followers to change their pic -- I guess I will go with an app that works..
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Agreed, DopePriest. If it's the developer's choice that Tweetie ignore large or slightly non-square avatars, then maybe you could allow an option in some sort of advanced preferences pane so that we, the users, can change this?
-
Inappropriate? This is getting very tiring. Tweetie is the only Mac client (that I know of) that has this issue and I'm this close (imagine my thumb and forefinger are about a millimeter apart) to just chucking Tweetie in the trash.
Of the first twenty tweets after I launched Tweetie close to half show no avatar because they've recently been changed.
I like Tweeties other features but this issue is ridiculous and just plain maddening.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I don't understand why this is still an issue. I think it's odd that the rest of the Twitter apps out there, as everyone else has already mentioned, are displaying avatars just fine, as soon as they change. And it's not just about seeing other people's avatar changes, you can't even see YOUR OWN change.
I really like Tweetie for Mac, but I'm moving to Twitterrific until this gets fixed.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? Also have problems with avatars not showing up. I would say that I am missing about 20% avatars at the moment.
I’m so sad
-
Inappropriate? Some of these emails date back 6 months, and WE'RE STILL AHVING HTE SAME PROBLEM! Come on! I can see the new avatar in the profile, but not when I tweet. I've tried installing a picture that worked before, and it shows up EVERYWHERE else, but not in Tweetie.
I’m I'm sad, and Tweetdeck is looking like it'll be my main client.
-
Inappropriate? This is still a problem. My avatar shows fine on the Twitter website and in other apps including Nambu and TweetDeck. What's up Tweetie?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? This is actually a resurgence of a bug that was fixed. I'm archiving this thread, there is another modern thread.
-
"There is another modern thread."
Where? -
Inappropriate?A "resurgence of a bug that was fixed" -- this was never fixed for me!
And if you decide to archive this thread, since "there's another modern thread" -- at least provide us with a link to the new thread.
I must say this does not reflect well on your company.
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?Still a problem for me with both mac and iphone versions. Is a solution being worked on?
