Mark all as read-button
Would like an easy shortcut (⌘K is best) to mark all unread tweets as read.

Glad to see this is implemented, but the Mark all as read doesn't dim the tweets, making it rather useless to me.
I’m silly

Perhabs in future the read status can be sycned with Tweetie on the iPhone via Bonjour/LAN?

Inappropriate?Yes. This is essential really - compared to clicking on each individual tweet to 'read' it.
-
Inappropriate?Would be also nice to dim out or hide all the read messages
-
Check your prefs, there's an option to dim read messages. Personally I don't think it dims them enough (yet). -
@George: this isn't what we're asking for. You still have to manually tap through each tweet to mark it as read. We want a shortcut to mark everything as read. This is useful when you have more than one computer -- e.g. I'm using my laptop for a few hours. When I come back to the iMac, I want to mark everything as read because I've already read it on the laptop. Twitterrific does this (CMD-K). -
@George - Mark *all* as read, not one at a time. -
I agree that a button is needed to "Mark all as read", however this particular post reads: "Would be also nice to dim out or hide all the read messages" which is already available in the application prefs.
So yes, I agree that there should be a "mark all tweets as read" function, and that they should be dimmed (and even more dimmed than they aleady are).
I was just clarifying for @mkrzych that the dimmed out feature already exists. -
Inappropriate? When checking your tweets for the first time that day etc. this is absolutely essential.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Super-essential. Not really sure how this one didn't make it in 1.0, very odd oversight.

Most likely because unlike email (which twitter is not) you don't absolutely have know know if you've read a specific tweet before. -
I like to know what I have read and what I have not read. Seems others here agree. -
@ashponders Like it or not, some of us use Twitter a bit like e-mail. I run a corporate account, and I'd get dinged if I missed @replies. -
Inappropriate?A shortcut for "go to oldest unread tweet" would go nicely with this.

Yeah this would be great. -
Inappropriate?Maybe there should be a 'set high water mark' command/button/right click - if you apply this to the selected message, then that message, plus all older messages will be marked as read.

This would be a nice feature, similar to Syrinx's "bookmark", instead of having an individual read/unread status for each tweet. -

That's great -- even more so if it means (1) tweets that were read at last launch remain "read" when I relaunch; (2) new tweets are no longer erroneously shown as read before they've been selected; (3) there's an easy way to "go to the oldest unread tweet"; (4) there's a way to "mark this tweet unread"... but I'll bet that at least #3 and #4 are considered to be their own new features. -
Hmmm, I was assuming this "Mark all as read" feature would dim all the tweets (and dimmed tweets would be dimmed even more than they currently are). The handling in 1.1 is the same as just scrolling to the top. -

Agreed. -
Yeah, this seems like a fairly big omission. -
Yep - it should work like this. Also, I've noticed that if I use the keyboard to browse the timeline, the highlight on the menu bar icon only clears if I use the scrollbar - instead of clearing when the last unread tweet is *selected*. -
Inappropriate?The same for me!
