I wish there was a preference option for merging mentions into the timeline (highlighting them in some way). I have no need for a separat timeline for mentions. This would also solve the problem a lot of users have with stuff being marked unread two separate places.

Be aware though, that you'd still need to listen for mentions separately, since not all mentions necessarily show up in my normal timeline (which means you'd probably need some sort of duplicate filter).
