I've found myself a bit hooked on trending topics, can that be added to the search window?

they're already there - click on the search icon, then the dropdown search icon in the search box in the top right corner - you should see a list of 10 trending topics... perhaps not quite what you were thinking (a la tweetdeck) but better than nothing for now.Comment

Trending topics can be part of search where it has it's own list item, you navigate from search -> trending topics -> particular trending topic.
Obviously this wouldn't update the new messages icon you guys place on the search / timeline / DM etc but I feel it's better and more obvious there. -
