Provide "inline" expansion of short URLs
The current "Preview Short URLs" UI is very cumbersome. Suggestion: Implement an "inline" short URL expansion similar to the search.twitter.com website.

Inappropriate?Just seconding the 'very cumbersome' aspect of the current implementation... It's slow and inelegant. If it provided more info than just the URL, then perhaps I could see it, but right now I really want inline... They can pop up as the shortened version and then change as Tweetie sorts it out... Even though that would take the same amount of time, it would be oh-so-much-less frustrating.
I’m sensing a disturbance in the force

Inappropriate?I was excited when I saw the short URL preview as a feature for Tweetie, but the way it's currently implemented is near-useless to me. If there is a way to do it where you see the short URLs as normal, but when you click on one, it expands it to the full URL, that would be amazing.

Inappropriate?Actually, I would like to expand this to a lot of shortcuts for twitter. $STOCK could put a stock quote like $AAPL (127.54+) (in red/green so it is not confused with actual text.) Additionally an option to view images inline would be outstanding. Ideally time related information like stock quotes would be at the time the Tweet was sent, but current time would do.
Hovering over an @reply would give information on the user (full name and website at least)
I am sure many more can be thought of. -
Inappropriate? You can also take a look at how Eventbox does it. Works well.
