Regular Expression (RegExp) filtering for the timeline
This was a "power setting" in Twitterrific, and I would love to see it in Tweetie as well. By using a hidden command-line feature, you could filter out tweets that matched certain words. For example, a user can filter out a particular hashtag (#idol or #americanidol) or auto-generated tweets that contain consistent sets of words.

Inappropriate? This is a good - but made me wonder - is there no search/filter for Tweetie at all? Seems like a big omission.
I’m pushing tin

Inappropriate?Twitterrific's filtering is great. I'm sure you guys can implement it with a slick UI (right-click a word, "Filter...")

Inappropriate?I like this - but please try to make the UI fit both a permanent filter, and a temporary one. For example, I would want filter all SXSW tweets when I wasn't at SXSW - but only during the time SXSW was happening, and I would want to quickly add/remove/change those filters on the tweet window itself.

Definitely. I think Twitterrific's solution, while more powerful with regular expressions, is overkill. I would be happy with a "Filters" panel in the settings where you could just add a list of words or hashtags, and any tweets that came in that contained any of those words would be hidden from view. -
Inappropriate?I would really like to see a filter feature, but would rather see it built into the the preferences or the interface itself.
Having a hidden regex filter seems a bit cumbersome and always seemed like a band-aide solution in Twitterriffic. Why make it so difficult? -
Inappropriate?Regex isn't very friendly for the masses, but seems like it would be a pretty easy add-on as an experiment. Being able to bring terms to focus (color highlight) we want to see and hide terms we're sick of seeing would give the reader commanding control over their stream.

Inappropriate?I might suggest that the "spymaster" Twitter phenomenon makes some kind of RegEx tweet filtering all the more timely... please?

Inappropriate?DestroyTwitter also has regex support and it works really well. Hopefully we get this implemented in some way in a future version of Tweetie.

Inappropriate?Brilliant! With all the new games and apps with built-in tweeting, twitter is rapidly turning into the new myspace/facebook/LJ/aol ... I came to twitter to avoid all that noise, and now it's heer!

Inappropriate?Tweet spam is just going to get worse as Twitter grows in popularity. I'm pretty sure that eventually tweet filtering is going to be considered a must-have for any Twitter client -- like junk mail filtering for an email client.
Might as well lead rather than follow here. -
Inappropriate? With the increasing amount of stupid Twitter giveaways and retweeting, it would definitely be nice to get filters in Tweetie. A simple word filter is fine for most, though it would be nice to have a full regex filter either through a hidden preference or an Advanced tab or something.
This is the feature I miss most from Twitterrific, and I would consider buying the full version of Tweetie if it were available only as a paid feature. One's sanity is definitely worth $20. (It would also be nice to see the same filters in the iPhone version, but I understand that may be trickier to include.)
I’m hopeful
