Should search be a part of a specific account?
It strikes me that it's odd to replicate the Search 'tab' under each account. It implies that there's something 'account-specific' about search and I'm not sure that's correct.
Perhaps it would be better to make Search more global in the UI.

Inappropriate?Searches count against API usage, don't they? If so, they have to be associated with an account.

Search does not count against API usage, and can be performed unauthenticated to boot. -
Inappropriate?I was thinking the same thing and related to this if you break the search into a new window then i can't see how you know what account the search is associated too. This becomes a problem when you follow someone in a search and turns out you are following them on the wrong account. Would be nice to be able to change what user is gonna follow when you get the follow popup, or at least confirm what account will be used.

Inappropriate?Surely Tweetie knows how many API calls it's made to each account - so just search using the account that's used the least API calls in the past hour ;) Keep it simple for end users - make search a global feature and just add a little bit of extra logic behind the scenes to make it intelligently choose the most suitable account.
