Tweet selection colour in v1.2 is not visible enough.
I understand people were complaining about the bright blue colour when you select a tweet in the list, but the new colour in version 1.2 is far too light, and only colours the background of the selected tweet. I often can't tell what is selected at all.
If the point of changing the colour for a selected tweet is to have a visual cue, then please make it at least visible.
I don't see what was so wrong with the grey colour from the beta version. It coloured the actual tweet bubble, and was visible without being overbearing. Please consider doing something similar to this, which would be a happy medium for everyone.

Why couldn't it just be a lighter blue than before? I actually thought the highlight had been removed for a second there.

Agreed. This white shade is practically useless as it is - I can barely see it. Background needs to be darker, or the highlight needs to be darker - one or the other. I didn't mind the blue, but a dark gray sounds nice too.

Yeah this new highlight is visually vague and the fade just makes it look unbalanced.
I actually liked the highlighting from the very first release the best. -

Inappropriate?I actually like the "idea" behind this new highlight method, but I agree that it's way too subtle. I'd keep the background color change, rather than the bubble color change, but there needs to be much more contrast.
Maybe use a different color? Darken the standard gray background?

I’m not terribly bothered, though.

Inappropriate? How often do you really need to know which tweet is selected? Usually I'm just right-clicking on the tweet I want to act on anyway.
We went through a big rigamarole with the selection style on Twitter -- lots of different mockups, some of which were really good and some of which were horrid. The finalized style stays out of the way until you need to look for it. It's fine. Let this dead horse be. :)
I’m anxious about the prospect of resurrecting this one

Often. I use the selection to mark my place or focus. It's not a dead horse to those who were using the stronger selection color this way. -
Inappropriate?I agree wholeheartedly with this complaint. The change from 1.0 to 1.1 was undesirable but not terrible, but the change from 1.1 to 1.2 is pretty bad. No one complained about the style in the 1.0, can't we just go back to that?
Maybe if the gray behind the selected tweet were a little darker this would be fine.

Inappropriate?Cant we just have it customizable?

Inappropriate?@iconmaster, when I'm reading tweets, I use the selection to show which tweet I'm up to. If I scroll away, and then scroll back - the white is INCREDIBLY difficult to see.
Making it this hard to see is just as bad as removing it altogether - and now I want to work out how to get tweetie 1.1.x back.
I’m incredibly frustrated at the one step forward two steps back.

Inappropriate?I think it should be a customizable feature. I mean we are in 2009 here right? We all have different tastes, I rather much like the blue selection color whereas before that others like whichever color? Well let use choose. I want the blue back personally but give it as an option.
Don't force some absolutely terrible color on us and Tweet what you tweeted about it. Sigh.
-
Inappropriate? The other issue is that when the highlight is next to the arrow that points to what you are viewing in the sidebar, the color doesn't bleed into the arrow. This makes it look wrong.

Inappropriate?I agree with RLFloyd on this one.
And I don't think it's aesthetically appealing to change the color of the background BEHIND the tweet bubble, but that's just my own taste.
My Suggestions:
What about highlighting the border of the tweet bubble itself? Wasn't this the original behavior? Or what about changing the background color of the tweet bubble to white (or very close to white or off-white/cream)? -
Inappropriate?See, I liked the 1.1 highlighting style, I thought it was easy on the eyes, easy to read and generally stylish. The new style is simply far too subtle to be useful.
I know how you guys want there to be one solution for everyone, and I know how you feel that if you don't do it as a one-for-all thing you feel like you've failed, but the truth is we all seem to like different things - customisability is the solution here.
ATM I'm with @brendo_91 - I'm considering trying to find v1.1 again.
