Un-favorite Tweets that have been Favorited
Tweetie should not only allow you to favorite a tweet, but to un-favorite it too. Just toggle on and off. That way, if I accidentally mark a tweet as favorite but didn't mean to, I don't have to go to the web to fix the problem.

Inappropriate?Ditto. Full favorites toggle/delete would be great. Also, existing favorites don't seem to be marked with a star.
-
Inappropriate?Like John said favorites that you have marked on your phone or on the web don't have a star, yet can you still favorite a favorite. This makes me think that the favorite tweet function is not linking back to twitter.
I’m undecided
-
It links because I opened a tweet (in Twitter.com) that I had just marked as fav. and twitter had it marked as a fav. -
I too see the Faves section in Tweetie allowing me to add a star to items in my Faves list. Something funky going on here.
And definitely need to be able to un-Fave a tweet. -
Inappropriate?@Mikey Bouchereau: now that you mention it...
This need a fix -
Inappropriate?Yeah the problems of prior favorited tweets not being favorited in Tweetie is really sad but the ability of unfavoriting musst be added. Not simply toggling, but favoriting with "F" and unfavoriting with "Option+F" or something.
sad woud be great.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate? What? I kinda took the reversal of actions as a given! To be able to favorite and unfavorite is essential (also, give all items that you show in the favorites view a star...)
I’m very surprised this is not already working!
-
Inappropriate?yes, why isn't this working already
also to add to this point, favourites already present on your twitter account also don't have the tweetie favourite star
I’m facepalming
-
Inappropriate?strange. i also expected it to be there.
-
Inappropriate?I expect this to happen already. I want to click a Star to favorite and click the Star again to unfavorite. Or have F be the Favorite/Unfavorite toggle.
-
Inappropriate? This is definitely needed. I can work around the missing favorites in the sidebar as long as those are not there but going to the website just for unfavoriting stuff...argl
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I too need the un-favorite functionality - I use tweetie on the iphone throughout the day, and am favoriting tweets that I want to read when I get back. Then unfavorite on tweetie for mac once read when I'm back home.
It's the one thing thats stopping me splashing the cash.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Coming soon.

Inappropriate? We have now "Video Tweeting" but no un-favoriting and no favorites in the sidebar? That's priority-setting done right...
I’m totally frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hard to understand how tweeting video took priority over this. Maybe it's hard to understand why someone would un-favor a tweet, but I suspect many people use the feature to only temporarily bookmark tweets.
Is there some technical hurdle?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?can't understand. I don't want a program to tell me how to use a feature.I use favs as temporary bookmark, and I want to keep using it this way
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? No technical hurdle, nearly every other client I have used does it just fine. Its pretty lame they didnt FIX the software and rather added new features. They really need to have support for viewing tweets that have been faviorated, and provide for the ability to unfaviorate them. I'm going to use twitter the way i want too!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Previous commenters: I understand how it can look like Atebits is intentionally prioritizing new features over bug fixes, but that's not quite how development works. If they were already neck-deep in the video commenting system by the time they realized un-favoriting needed work, it may have been more trouble to branch off the earlier code, fix the bug, and merge it all back than to simply finish the current feature and then move on to the bug. (I'm calling it a bug, though really it's a missing feature.)
I'm not saying you guys don't have a right to complain or express your frustration, but characterizing it as a priority issue isn't quite accurate -- at least, it's not obviously accurate. That may be the case, but just because Feature X was released before Feature Y doesn't mean it was higher priority; there are other developmental considerations, like is Feature Y the extension of a system that's being rewritten and not yet ready, etc.
Just a little balance from a dev's perspective. :) (Not *the* dev's perspective; I'm not atebits or anything.)
I’m hoping it gets fixed
-
"I'm not atebits or anything" Good to know! -
Inappropriate?Josh mentioned this a month ago. 26 days ago ashponders said it was coming soon. I see it's not in ver 1.1.2. Is there any concrete date for this feature?
It's a fairly basic feature that Tweetdeck, Twhirl and the like have and for my purposes renders Tweetie less useful.
It is an application that people pay for, surely it's fair enough that something so basic should be included.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I don't mean to sound *too* much like a dick, but shouldn't this be reasonably reclassified as a bug report rather than a feature request by now? Being able to unflag something you can flag within the same application is not an added feature, but rather an *expected behavior*.
It's not a showstopper like an outright crash bug, but it is still - as currently implemented - an incomplete feature implementation, and should rightfully be treated as such. I understand a lot of work has gone into this application and this post should *not* be construed as implying otherwise. However, adding *new* features should come second to *completing* those already present. (End rant.)

Spec, this is a terrific and lucid reply. A++ WOULD BUY AGAIN. -
I'm starting to wonder if we've driven the Powers That Be out of the site with the sheer volume and tone of the posts here. The last 'official' posts by the three employee users were 7, 11, and 14 days ago, with a comparatively sporadic posting history for a couple weeks prior to that.
GetSatisfaction (and collaborative sites like it) might be a double-edged sword for very small companies or sole proprietorships with popular applications like Tweetie. There's a reason a lot of software development companies have dedicated tech support staff. :) -
Keep in mind WWDC just ended. Some or all of atebits were likely in attendance and Moscone has surprisingly crappy wifi. -
Josh, that *somewhat* validates Spec's point: a company's support staff shouldn't be MIA on account of a dev conference. Of course, it is hard to keep up with the deluge of support requests that GS seems to trigger, but to Spec's point, it looks like Atebits is starting to outgrow its current support staff (which I'd speculate is just the devs).
Better to add staff when pinched than waste money up front, so these growing pains are perfectly understandable, but it sucks to feel 'em. -
GetSatisfaction's problem is less its volume of requests (it's always good to have access to feedback from users) and more the unreasonable feedback expectations of its users. A small indie company like Atebits can do one of two things at any given time:
1) read over your comments and reply to you, personally, in a timely fashion
2) write code to fix/implement your problems/suggestions.
While the statement "A company's support staff shouldn't be MIA on account of a dev conference" is perfectly valid for values of "company" that approach Microsoft, in a small shop this clearly falls under category 2, above.
If you would like Atebits to provide you with feedback irrespective of their developers' workload, please file a feature request suggesting they charge more for their products so that they might afford a dedicated support staff. -
Inappropriate?I changed to DestroyTwitter because of this problem. It's Adobe Air but in loading time it's quicker then Tweetie, it has a option for widerscreen, a group function and favorite tweets function called 'saved'. There is enough competition so why not look around if you really want this feature?
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?its annoying not to have it but give the developers some space. i have not paid for tweetie yet because its not indispensable yet but when it becomes so i will gladly pay up.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate? This would be slightly less annoying if the favorite hotkey wasn't just a letter on the home-row with no modifier. :P
I’m annoyed.

Very, very true. -
haha. don't hold your breath. tweetie seems to be languishing due to developer dystrophy. -
We've been working on Tweetie 2.0 for iphone for a bit, but we'll be back to the Mac client very soon. (also note that the last update to tweetie for mac was a bit over a month ago, hardly 'languishing') -
ashponders - good to see someone's listening :) i've still not been convinced enough to buy the full tweetie for mac version. and on the iphone, how hard could it be to set up push. good luck though. -
Inappropriate?didn't realize this problem has been documented over 7 months ago! the bug (?) still exists!!!!
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Ash has said that they are going to update very soon. I'm guessing, least hoping this significant and somewhat annoying oversight is going to be fixed.
Tweetie is my favourite Twitter client, however I have to use TweetDeck or Twirl to unfavourite Tweets. I must say that I'm tending to use them more often than not at the moment and beginning to regret that I foolishly paid somewhat too early for this potentially excellent program.
I’m frustrated
-
to be honest, i think the dev has probably been way too busy with the mobile version but i don't think it was a foolish decision to buy early as tweetie 2 for the Mac will be free.
as it should be considering everything that hasn't been fixed yet
