Add bills with due dates (and get emailed as that date approaches)
Tracking where my expenses have been is great, but I'd love to be able to add bills as I recieve them. This could be how it could work:
I recieve a bill, so I add that to expens'd, including the due date (due in 30 days). 25 days pass, and I haven't paid it yet, so expens'd shoots me an email letting me know that I've forgotten to pay it. I pay the bill, and log in to expens'd and add an expense to my account, and during the addition, I get a drop down of all the bills awaiting to be paid, so I assign it to the bill.
The process could be as simple as that, or it could be expanded to include lots of other stuff too, but thats something that would kick expensd up a notch for me.

Hi Adam,
Per your feedback we have added a two-user plan. Your request to add bills is next on our list, along with printable reports. Please keep the feedback coming.

Inappropriate?Hi Adam,
That's an interesting idea and one we will discuss for future addition. How do you envision the reminders working? Would you be able to set a "global" reminder that applies to any bills you enter, or would it be on a bill-by-bill basis?
To play devil's advocate for a moment, expens'd is all about tracking and reporting on expenses. Would including bills move it away from that primary purpose? -
Inappropriate?hey Robert, thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Expens'd is a great product, and having such a keen interest in your users will only make it better.
The great thing about the app is its simplicity, I would envision it being a global reminder. "Remind me X days before a due date".
As far as the devil's advocate, i'd say it wont depart from what you are focusing on. At least half of my expenses arrive as bills. If I want to ensure my expenses are covered properly, I need to make sure I pay my bills.

Inappropriate?Good point Adam. Bills are something that are never ending, unfortunately.
I'll discuss it with the team and our designer about how it can fit into the app. Would you want to run some type of report on bills, say "show me everything unpaid" or "show me all my bills between x date and y date"? -
Inappropriate?I think the reports could be expanded to include bills for sure if they were included, basically what you listed there. (As a side note, maybe even a graph of my expenses broken down into months)
Ideally though, I'd love to see a list of the unpaid bills on the dasboard along with my latest expenses, or at the very list, an alert box on the dasboard saying that i have X bills currently unpaid, which would link through to a list of the bills.

Inappropriate?Great. Thanks for the idea. If you have any others let us know.

Inappropriate?Hello again Adam,
Another question for you on this feature. Adding features to the site, in addition to the other costs (servers, database space, etc.) costs money. Would the addition of this feature be compelling enough to get you to pay for expens'd? -
Inappropriate?yep, it sure would! That and an API which you have said you would working on.
This is off the topic of this thread, but to reply to your question properly, I'd actually love to see a $6 plan, with 2 or 3 users and maybe 500Mb - 1Gig space, so my girlfriend and I can track expenses together. I won't be having 5 users at all, but 2 would fit me perfectly.

Hi Adam,
We're planning on adding a two user plan. Look for it next week.

Inappropriate? We have been thinking about something small as well. We'll definitely put it on the table. Thanks again for the feedback.

Inappropriate?Hi Adam,
We're currently adding expense approval to expens'd. Once that is complete we are going to work on adding the billing feature you requested. I'll keep you up to date.
