Currency Drop Down Box On Expense Page
I incur expenses in different currencies - can I have a drop down box on the expense page that allows me to pick a specific currency for that expense?

Inappropriate?Hi Alan,
That's an interesting concept. How would that work with totaling expenses?

Inappropriate?That may be a challenge.
Perhaps each currency could be a specific expense account?
I don't know - you are the man on the white horse - but I presume there are a few people out there who have expenses in different currencies ... Every problem has a solution. -
We can definitely bring it to the table and discuss it internally. Any other information on how you track these now would be a help too. Thank you for the feedback. -
Inappropriate?I will try.
Maybe paypal is a good point of reference - when one receieves money in $ that money is applied to a $ balance conversely when one receives money in £ that money is applied to a £ balance.
Right now, I only track big expenses - not everything - I have reports for each currency for a certain period.
I am in the UK so at the end of the year the tax office gives me a conversion rate into £ for each currency for that tax year. I don't know if that will make sense, it might it might not.
Essentially by having expenses organised into their specific currencies and then looking at that data at the very end of the tax year and then and only then converting it into a base currencty such as the £ with the conversion rate for that tax year that the tax office gives me, do I combine expenses in different currencies into one report and one currency ...
Hope this helps, it might it might not.
Keep it real Sir Dempsey. -
Inappropriate? That makes a lot of sense. We'll discuss it internally and see how we could make that possible.

Inappropriate? One way to accomplish this without having a per-item currency would be to add a "currency" tag to the expense, for instance "pound" or "dollar." You will soon (this coming week) be able to run a report on expenses for tags along with the date range.

Inappropriate?if linked to tripit - the country you select could automatically choose currency for that trip...
bear in mind you fly from one to another country, so still need to manually select if travelling across countries
