There is software that is too simple - expens'd is a good example
I would love to use Expens'd, but the truth is that it isn't much better than a Google spreadsheet for expense management. Our small company is looking for an expense management system, but we need the following:
* More fields. Sorry tags won't cut it here. We need to expense things to certain clients. We need to be able to run reports on expense types, per client. Client and location are crucial to our expense management.
* It isn't good enough to just filter by this or that field. We need to be able to create an expense report for a particular client on a particular day.
* We need to be able to aggregate expenses across people to present a simplified (with our without detail) invoice.
Expens'd looks like an application that was developed for a single person's simplified needs, but isn't mature or good enough for more complex reporting - which is too bad.

Inappropriate?Hi rlieving,
You've hit the nail on the head. Our initial purpose for expens'd was to replace using a spreadsheet for expense reporting. Our method of development was to create a super simple application with a small set of core features (which you saw) and then find out where our users want to take it. You have brought up some great potential features.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could put your bullets into Get Satisfaction here as individual feature requests so that the expens'd community can vote on them. We're getting more and more time to work on our applications, and determine what features to add based on the number of votes.
Thank you again for your great feedback, and helping us to make a better product.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I guess our small company (2 people currently) need something that is a quantum leap over expensd.
I would be glad to put requirements in GetSatisfaction. The problem is...it isn't clear how to do that. I have a friend who worked (past tense) for UserVoice and a problem with both these applications is that it isn's apparent how to use them or easy.
One other issue with these voting schemes - it takes too much investment of time. You could send me an email with directions - but I am already onto the next piece of software trying to evaluate that. I would love to help you develop good software - but I have my own work to do rather than peck around looking for how to use GetSatisfaction on my way to helping you to develop good software.
It sounds hostile - but I am just telling the truth here.
My test for internet software is that it has to be easy and usable within 5 minutes. Expensd passes the test - I could see that it wasn't going to work for me.
GetSatisfaction/UserVoice fails the test. It isn't at ALL obvious how to get stuff into the queue and voting is just too complicated. So, sorry - what I have written is what I think needs to be done.
My number one suggestion to you - dump GetSatisfaction, listen to your (potential) customers and develop good software.
And - price your software correctly. The price you are charging - nominal as it may be - is WAY too expensive for the functionality you provide. 5 minutes and Google or Zoho Spreadsheet gives me 500% more functionality than Expensd. You may disagree, but that is reality.
I’m not impressed with GetSatisfaction

I appreciate the straightforward honesty and would rather have that feedback than none at all. Good luck in your search for an app that works for you. -
Have you seen any third-party support sites that work well? I agree that GetSatisfaction can be confusing with it's wording. -
Inappropriate?Well, your attitude makes me feel overly negative and want to help. You are an excellent representative for your company. I am sorry that you have to listen to my complaints.
That being said, the problem with Get Satisfaction and the submission of requirements is that it requires an investment of time for software that I do not and may not use. The investment is too expensive, sadly. Time is money, and I don't have enough of either.
Plus there is another annoying part of Get Satisfaction. It allows you to write a post without signing in. Then it asks for a sign on and tells you it is about to erase your post. Are you paying these guys? Because this system is HORRIBLE.
I’m happy with Robert Dempsy

Points taken. We do appreciate the feedback and are taking it all into account as we plan for additional features for expens'd. Thanks again for being honest with us.
