Would be nice to supply a KML file automatically and set the paramaters (projection, which layers, etc.) via a restfull API and return the SVG. In that way I could use indieprojector as an automated mapping tool which would be awesome!

Inappropriate?That's a great suggestion! Indieprojector is a preview release of the larger indiemapper application, due out at the end of the summer. After it's release, we will, in all likelihood, start development on the indiemapper SDK which will include tools to project, create and export thematic maps from KML / SHP. Hopefully we'll have a great tool for you to use by the beginning of 2010!
