All basic geometries from KML are supported. Points, polygons (LinearRings), and polylines (LineStrings) will be pulled out of Placemarks. Currently, LinearRings within the innerBoundaryIs tag are ignored; these holes should be supported in future versions of indieprojector / indiemapper.
