Create a Backtype Connect plugin for Intense Debate

I love the idea of Backtype connect and I want to use it on my site but I don't think it will work with Intense Debate which I'm using as a comment system. However, the good thing is that Intense Debate has plugin capability and an API which one can use to write their own code. This means that similar to how you have the Backtype wordpress plugin, you could have one for Intense Debate which will instantly be available for their (considerable) userbase.
