Add Lorem Ipsum text to UI controls available
This seems like a natural for Balsamiq Mockups, since the whole point of Mockups is to abstract the design to its simples elements so the focus remains on layout, not design. Likewise, as any designer knows using "Lorem Ipsum" text instead of any real text also focuses the viewer on the layout, not the content. As an alternative to adding a new control for this, perhaps change the existing "Paragraph of Text" control to be preloaded with serveral pargraphs of "Lorem ipsum" text.

Inappropriate?Hm, nice.
but it would be even greater, if the lorum text would fill the whole text area. So fill to whole avaible area with lorem ipsum text, not just one paragraph.

Hi Roland, I think maybe this would be relevant? http://www.getsatisfaction.com/balsam... - for now I guess you could type lorem lorem lorem... -
Inappropriate?I've read recently in web pages and books on good design that Lorem Ipsum can be a bad idea. This short blog entry has an excellent alternative idea, and it links to another very popular page at 37signals.com, talking about why Lorem Ipsum is bad. I'm no purist on the topic but I think the advice should always at least be considered.

Inappropriate?Thanks for sharing that info Starbuck --- I definitely think it's worth considering and in the context that 37 signals presents -- I would agree. Ideally you don't want to be using fake content when developing screens for a webapp the same way you might for a website, maybe even not too far past initial drafts for a website too... I will have to think about this more but I do think it's important to consider. And 37 signals reputation for ui puts even more weight behind that for me.
I also like the post Peldi referenced about using "greeked" text --- this might prevent some of the confusion the end user feels but again maybe not. I would definitely love to have greeked text as an option in Mockups. Where possible I would definitely prefer to use actual or close to actual content --- but as someone else mentions it's often hard to get content from clients ... if you're hiring a copywriter that's a different story... I've done it the other way in the past with lorem ipsum and it is frustrating when the final text ends up much different than the original fake content especially at the end of a project when you just want to complete it not start over.

Inappropriate?I just downloaded the trial version and was disappointed that the Lorem generator didn't work in a List control as I (thought I've) read in the blog, while downloading. Going back to see what it actually said I realized my error. But IMHO it would be great to have "lorem" generation enabled in any control that can take text input.
I’m hopeful

Hi there, that's an interesting idea. Can you tell me more about what you were trying to accomplish? We can certainly add it, but I'd like to do it only where it's really needed. -
I was trying to insert some formatted lorem text into a table or list control. I didn't want to clutter my mock-up with controls just to format the text so I was writing stuff like "lorem50" ect. My solution was to create a text paragraph next to my work space and copy/paste lorem ipsom bits of text into the table (see image) and then copy/paste the formatted text to repeat the desired result.

getsatisfaction.com just removed all my text when I added an image #fail
using Chrome 3.0
