Inappropriate?Here is a work-around
1. Create a rectangle object & select the color you want for the background (you can use the opacity control to get pastels)
2. Remove the border.
3. Use the *text area* object instead of text field.
4. Lay it on top of your rectangle and set the opacity as low as possible.
Voila!
