Balsamiq for Software Architects
I use your product a lot for screen mockups. But when I do design work, I have to go to another product. I really want to draw software architectural/design diagrams with Balsamiq. The product is almost there - I just need a few generic two-dimensional shapes (circle, rectangle, etc), an ability to rotate shapes, some lines and colors and we're good to go. Now I can throw out Visio. That's be awesome.

Inappropriate?Hi Andy, thanks for the feedback. I have heard the same request before, but for now I fear that adding generic shapes and connectors would dilute the focus of the application, which is really just in its infancy, not even a year old! :)
I do have arrows and rectangles, and an empty Multiline Button could work as a decision box...

I was thinking you could market it as a separate product, or a "Shapes Library" we could purchase on top of the current product. This way, it wouldn't deter from the original focus. -
Yup, we might go that route. We have to "finish" Mockups first though! :) -
Inappropriate?I really like the original suggestion. Something like Visio is often overkill, but having those basic IA functions in Mockups would be great.

Ya, I think its a no-brainer. I think it'd get tonnes of use, because it'd replace all those whiteboard sessions where we just want to draw concepts. I think with a few additions, Balsamiq could attract a brand new market, and its a big market - much bigger I think than the screen mockup market.
