How do I update Balsamiq Mockups?
I'd like to see the size overlay but I've already installed Balsamiq Mockups. How do I update Mockups without reinstalling?

Inappropriate?Hi Adam, to update the app you just re-install it on top of the old one. You won't have to re-register and your data won't be touched.
"Check for updates" functionality within the app is on the roadmap.

In the Mockups menu, go to "About Balsamiq Mockups". The version is there. -

Inappropriate?I think a check for upgrade on the help menus is a good idea. I also had a hard time finding about Balsamiq. I honestly think it belongs in the help menu instead of the Mockups menu. -
Inappropriate?It's a Windows vs OSX thing. I moved it back and forth when I first implemented the feature...I'll move it. And "check for updates" is on the roadmap, I'll get to it someday I promise ;)

I think people are expecting a "check for updates", which then shows them a changelog of what changed since their current version, and a one-click "download and install" experience. Also some might want the software to check automatically every week or two...or at least that's what I think about when this feature is mentioned.

Agree with Adam that having an automatic check for updates would be "killerest" but just having a link directly to your download page would be a great short-term solution.

Inappropriate?The problem with going to the web installer is that you never know which version it is. I have to install it first and then see if it was an upgrade. Can you maybe put the version number next to the installer?6 Comments Add a comment

Thanks Peldi for your quick response. Can you maybe explain what the version numbering 1.NEXT.120 (Oct 22) means compared to 1.1.91 (Oct 29)? Are the NEXT versions the beta versions?

Yes, NEXT stands for "the next version after the official one". NEXT is about to become a "5" (hopefully tomorrow), and it has lots of stuff that's not in 1.1 at the moment. A list is here: http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock...

And if you're wondering why NEXT.120 is less recent than 1.1.91, it's because of a small bug fix which I made in 1.1
