How does JIRA/Mockups handle Mockups with duplicate names?
A duplicate mockup file is grayed out. How does JIRA handle that?

Inappropriate?good question, let me take a look. My hope is that you'd be able to see (and maybe diff) the various versions, like in Confluence.

Inappropriate?I finally got around to testing this. The old version of the xml is grayed out but still accessible if you click on it, which is nice. The issue is that this doesn't happen for image attachments, so you get two images with the same name, which clutters the UI. I am thinking it would probably be acceptable if my plugin deleted the old version of the image if present and replaced it with the latest. In other words, you'd have all versions in XML format, but only the latest in PNG format.
Thoughts?

Inappropriate?The proposal above was implemented in 1.0.32 - it seems to work well. Oh and now mockup files are called bmml files, not xml (the contents are the same).
