Ink-Friendly printouts in black and white

I'd like to see a low-ink "print screen" mode that would black and white print and reduce the colored backgrounds to low-color grays to save ink. Many times I want to print and annotate, but I want the original document to have our colors, but the printout to be ink friendly.
