Making Trees smaller

I would really like the ability to make trees smaller. This would entail two things: a smaller font (either selectable or defaulting to a 9 or 10 pt font) and smaller icons. In general, I would love to remove the arrows next to the folders, since they are redundant to the closed/open folders and just take up space. This would be especially important on the small tree, however.
