Mockup Title Object would show filename, path and version of mockup?
I would like to have a "Mockup Title Object" that I could place on my mockups. It would show the author, a version number and the filename and path of the mockup. This would help me keep track of the changes I've made. At the very least, being able to automatically populate the Title object with the filename and path would allow me to rack versions by filename. How about it?

Inappropriate?James, I like the idea of using a control object for this, very "meta". It would fit nicely in the "markup" group. I could definitely make it say the full path of the mockup and the file name (it's part of the path). I could also make it say the name of the author in the plugin versions, but it's not really needed since that info is next to the attachment...also the author changes with ever edit...so in other words...the path is really all that I could add, then you'd have to enter the other info yourself.
So...is it worth a new control, or could you use a callout (maybe with a specific background color) or a paragraph control? Is typing the full path even necessary? Could you use just the project name and the file name?
I think I just talked myself out of adding this...sorry. :)
I’m always ready to be convinced by a good argument

Nooooooooo... Please don't talk yourself out of it! I really do need some way of showing the filename of my mockup on the mockup itself. It will be my versioning system. I get confused as to which version of mockup is which. How about just a control object showing the filename automatically populated? Please! -
Hi James, couldn't you manually enter the filename in a callout component? The full path is shown in the application's title bar. Also, for versioning, have you considered using DropBox? http://www.balsamiq.com/blog/?p=711 It keeps all revisions for you automagically. -
Peldi, yes I could... But I'd prefer that it was updated automatically in the object so I didn't have to think about it. I use a similar scheme with Word documents where I place the filename and path in the footer. Anyway, unless there's a demand for my feature suggestiom your energies are better directed to other features. I appreciate your willingness to discuss it... and thank you for a great product! -
Inappropriate?I just had a thought...what if we used a semi-secret shortcut like ${mockupinfo} or something, which would automatically translate to the mockup name + the date it was last saved? That way you'd just type that in a callout or paragraph...thoughts?

Sounds perfect... -
Ok, I'll add it to the list. Not sure when I'll get to it, but I will! -
Awesome, thanks! -
Inappropriate? Can we have the secret vars be `$(file_path)` and `$(mod_datetime)`? I personally don't particularly care about `file_path`, but care a great deal about `mod_datetime` as my sketches change at a lightning fast pace and is constantly being checked into SVN. This would allow me to go back to a specific revision very easily just by looking at the printout or the exported PNG.
