Mockups for Confluence, now with linking support!
Hi all, ok so we finally got around to porting the linking feature to Mockups for Confluence, as promised 4 months ago: http://gsfn.us/t/5lm4 - wow, has it really been that long?
I have recorded a quick screencast to show you how to use it, which you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T4wRY... (watch it in HD!)
Highlights:
As you can see this is a pretty big change, so we'd love it if you could test it on your Confluence server before we ship it to the world wide internets. You can download a link That's why we'd love it if you could help us test it!
You can download the latest pre-release version from here: http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock...
If you're worried, let me tell you that I would be VERY surprised if your old data got compromised because of this update...we made a few tiny changes to the BMML file format but they should be fully backward compatibile. Anyways, you do back up your Confluence data regularely right? ;)
I'm excited about this change, I think it makes Mockups for Confluence so much more powerful and useful!

Highlights:
- you can easily link mockups together with the linking inspector pulldown. The mockups in the pulldown are all the mockups found in the current page's parent's descendants. Let me explain: we look at the parent page, and add all of its mockups. Then we look at all of the parent's descendants (which includes the current page and its descendants) and add those. This should take care of all of the most common cases, in which you keep all the mockups that are related on the same page, or on children pages or on sibling pages. Try it out, I'd love your feedback on this. I hope we won't have to add a "search" box, but we can always add...
- in the editor, in full-screen presentation mode, you can now navigate your prototype simply by clicking on the links. When you exit presentation mode (with ESC), you'll be back where you started.
- in the editor, in normal edit mode, you can jump to edit a linked mockup by ALT+clicking on a little arrow icon. The plugin will prompt you to save unsaved changes if you have any
- if you added some links to a mockup the image in the wiki will have an image map associated with it! This means that you'll be able to navigate your prototype, going from wiki page to wiki page, simply by clicking on the image.
- if you specified a width parameter in the mockup macro, the image map will resize accordingly

Inappropriate? One more thing: if you do test it and it all checks out, I'd love it if you could post what version of Confluence you tested it on.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Hey Peldi, will the image maps still work when you export the Confluence space/pages to html?
Bill
I’m excited
-
Good question! I haven't tried yet. I'll report back on it soon. -
Ok Bill, the image maps are there, but the links are broken. I'll look into the APIs to see if there's something I can hook into in order to fix it. -
Inappropriate?Cool. Yeah. I could see people really wanting to be able to export their clickable mockups to html. BTW, I blogged bout this here.
-
You rock Bill! Atlassian truly is a great platform company, hats off my friends. -
Inappropriate? What JAR release is the linking in? I've just grabbed and installed the mockupsConfluence-1.6.32.jar file, is it in here?
-
yes, 1.6.32 is the first 1.6 build to have linking in it. -
Inappropriate?YES!!! :-) :-) :-)
