More basic shapes and new modifiers
Add more shapes like badges, tags, ribbons, spheres, triangles, rectangles, circles, cones, tubes and cylinders, (thus, the mothers and fathers of geometric shapes) 3D Boxes, boxes with rounded corners. Make them editable: union, add, substract, intersect, path cut (like a knife)
Optional: And see if there's room for basic freeform drawing - lines / pencil etc. Last but not least: make it easier to draw patterns out of existing forms, to simulate backgrounds (like stripes, and dots)

Inappropriate?Wow, sounds like a completely different product, but a very cool one! I'll add these as features of the "digital sketchbook" product idea.

I design process simulation software, and while I can get by without most of these. I would be nice to have a oval, rectangle (with optional radius corners) and a free-form line and arc/spline that can be oriented (or rotated) whatever way is necessary, (and the width of the line can be controlled and the line end turned on and off). I don't know what you draw your shapes with. But if you could take a line and turn it into a "pen" for some design program, I would be happy to draw my flow diagrams externally and import them as images. I would jsut really like them in the same "look" as your stuff. I have tried several strokes/pens to try to match yours. But not being overly artistic I have not been able to come up with anything close. -
Inappropriate?I'm voting for this, especially the ribbon - because for now I'm going to have to build it up and group it, except then I can't change text without ungrouping... so I'll probably have to create a number of clone blank windows each with a different ribbon view... it's doable but a ribbon control would be real handy.
I’m confident

Ribbon control huh? I just added it to my TODO list, thanks for the request! -
Robert, that mockup looks awesome, with red marks and all! :) -
Inappropriate?More basic shapes please. I would especially love the rounded corner modifier.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?FLOW CHART controls needed!
-
Inappropriate?Agreed - A basic circle, diamond, and triangle would take me a lot further, but all of these are good. It would keep me almost entirely out of Visio.

Inappropriate?more colors (hexcode) and gradient color fo shapes would be appreciated too.

Inappropriate?+1 from me too

Inappropriate?Hi all! I've added a new control last week, it's called "Geometric Shape". You can try it out in the pre-release version here: http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mock...
I hope it will help with at least 80% of your use-cases... ;)
Let us know what you think, we'll ship it in the main branch on our next update sometimes next week.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Hi all, the geometric shape control is now live: http://www.balsamiq.com/blog/2009/09/...

The geometric shape control has proven quite useful to me but I would really like to be able to change the alignment of the text inside it.
Also, I notice that as I resize the shape the line increase in thickness as well as in length. Is there any way you could fix that, so the lines stay the same width regardless of the shape's size. (This would be like the borders in the default image placeholder - it doesn't matter how big the image control gets, the lines are always the same thickness) -
The geometric shape is great. Just missing a few such as a triangle, and a plain old line. I also wish to be able to scale the component properly (i.e. the rounded rectangle is nearly useless because it scales with the whole shape, rather than doing the scale-9 approach). It would be nice to be able to control the line width as well. Right now I see no way to create a fat horizontal line. -
Hi guys. The stretching is not very nice but it was either that or the ability to provide a border color, so I chose the latter. I'll take another look, but I fear Flash/Flex won't let me do both :(
